In recent years, domestic sevens tournaments across Australia have faced growing challenges. Once-iconic events have ceased operations, and those that remain often depend heavily on dedicated volunteers—many of whom are stretched thin and in urgent need of greater support.

The Matai Super 7s Series is stepping in to fill this gap. As a not-for-profit organisation, our mission is to provide the structure, support, and visibility needed to help domestic sevens not only survive but thrive.

While each tournament retains its independence, the Matai Super 7s Series works collaboratively to ensure a professional, competitive, and enjoyable experience for all involved. By uniting efforts, we aim to elevate the standard of play and create meaningful opportunities for players, teams, referees, and organisers alike.
